Scope of practice

Health coaching is not intended to diagnose, treat, prevent or cure any disease or condition. It is not intended to substitute for the advice, treatment and/or diagnosis of a qualified licensed professional. Trained health coaches may not make any medical diagnoses or claims, and are not a substitute for your personal physician’s care. As your health and wellness coaches, we do not provide a second opinion, or in any way attempt to alter the treatment plans or therapeutic goals and recommendations of your personal physician. It is our role to partner with you to provide ongoing support and accountability as you create an action plan to meet and maintain your health goals. Please remember that while we are health coaches, we are not medical professionals, dietitians or nutritionists. Our recommendations and advice are based upon our research, personal experience and opinions. What we post on this website and our social media pages should not be construed as personalized medical advice. Please consult your medical professional before undertaking any major lifestyle changes.

In an emergency

Nothing on this website is monitored in real time, and neither our contact form nor our inbox is an appropriate way to raise an urgent health concern. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline in the United States. Please do not wait for a reply from us.

No practitioner–client relationship

Reading this website, following us on social media, downloading anything we publish or sending us an inquiry does not make you our client and does not create a practitioner–client relationship. That relationship begins only when we have both signed a written agreement and you have completed our intake process. Until then, everything here is general education written for a general audience; it was not written with your history, medications, diagnoses or circumstances in mind, and it should not be acted on as though it were.

About functional lab testing

The laboratory panels we discuss are used to inform coaching and to look for patterns worth exploring. They are not diagnostic tests, they are not a substitute for testing ordered and interpreted by your physician, and an out-of-range result on a functional panel is not a diagnosis. Some of the panels we use are not FDA-cleared for diagnostic purposes, and reference ranges vary between laboratories and between methods. We will always encourage you to share results with your physician, and we will never suggest that a lab result replaces medical evaluation.

Supplements and dietary recommendations

Any statement made on this website about a dietary supplement, food, herb or nutritional protocol has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, and no such product is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Supplements can interact with prescription medication and are not appropriate for everyone, particularly during pregnancy, while nursing, or alongside treatment for a diagnosed condition. Talk to your physician or pharmacist before starting anything new, and stop and seek medical advice if you have an adverse reaction.

No guarantees

Our role is to support and assist you in reaching your goals, but your success depends primarily on your own effort, motivation, commitment and follow-through. We cannot and do not guarantee that you will attain a particular result, and you understand that results differ by each individual. As with any health-related program or service, your results may vary, and will be based on many variables, including but not limited to your individual capacity, life experience, unique health and genetic profile, starting point, expertise and level of commitment.

Results, stories and reviews

We do not publish invented testimonials, purchased reviews, incentivized reviews or composite “client” stories, and we do not use artificial intelligence to generate a client’s words. If a client story ever appears on this site it will be that client’s own words, shared with their written permission, and we will say plainly whether anything was given in exchange for it. An individual’s experience is not a typical or expected result, and it is not a prediction of yours. We publish no outcome statistics, success rates or cure claims, because we are not in a position to substantiate them.

Content from elsewhere

We link to laboratories, practitioners, research and reference material we think you may find useful. Linking is not endorsement of everything at the other end of the link, and we do not control or verify third-party content. Research summaries on this site are our reading of the literature at the time of writing; the literature moves, and we may not have caught up with it.
