We decided to head north for the holidays to get a taste of winter. Mike’s mom and dad drove up from Fort Lauderdale with their dog Mango and we all headed up north to Weaverville NC. I’s about a 7hr drive and this time we went north of Asheville. I found another really cool, pet friendly property called Oxbow Farms. It was a newly renovated historic farmhouse and cabin set on 8 acres of mountain property. It had a 2 acre pond that was supposed to be stocked with bass, catfish and bluegill, but unfortunately we weren’t able to catch any. Maybe it was the weather. But we were all looking forward to catching some fish! It rained the first couple days, but wasn’t cold enough to snow. The property was absolutely gorgeous when the sun finally decided to show itself!
We ended up going on a couple hikes nearby. We love hiking with our dogs! There is nothing better than being out in the great outdoors. I think people would be a lot healthier if they spent more time outside!
We spent most of our time hanging out around the farm shooting BB guns, trying to catch some fish, taking photos and eating delicious food. The food is the best part about vacations. We made chili, a roast, steaks, lamb and of course cookies and ice cream.
Christmas morning I got up early so I could catch the sunset and the wreathe lit up on this barn. Lola of course had to be in the picture. Look how pretty that sky is!
Hopefully we will make this a christmas tradition. I love traveling for the holidays!
